PSSI chairman Erick Thohir has threatened to impose point deductions on clubs whose supporters are involved in disorder during the 2026/2027 Super League season. Erick made the statement at Grand Indonesia, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday evening, 28 October 2026, after attending a screening of a Timnas Indonesia documentary film.
Erick pointed to a number of recent incidents. One was the clash at Banten International Stadium during Persita Tangerang's match against Persija Jakarta, which continued with supporters attacking each other after the game. There was also an incident that claimed the life of a Persib Bandung supporter following their match against Garudayaksa FC.
According to Erick, the competition operator I.League and club management have been told to take firm action. “The position of us at PSSI is clear, that we ask the league and the clubs to act decisively. There are rules of the game for everyone, so there's no need to beat around the bush,” Erick said.
The league and clubs have already restricted away supporter attendance at some high-risk matches. “Some clubs are not allowed to have away fans for certain opponents.”
Handling incidents inside and outside the stadium
Incidents inside and outside the stadium, Erick said, are handled differently.
However, when it comes to disorder during the match itself, Erick showed no leniency. “If it happens inside the match itself, we have already lived through the Kanjuruhan tragedy, and I don't think it can be tolerated. Yes, we at PSSI are strict. Not only will the clubs be followed up, and the supporters, but point deductions must also be enforced if this condition cannot be kept in the harmony we all hope for,” Erick stressed.
Erick also revealed that he has held a closed-door meeting with the National Police Chief. According to Erick, the commitments of PSSI and the police will be announced to the public within one to two weeks.
